Nsoko
Today was my day off and it just so happened that a few of the staff were heading out to Nsoko for the day. As soon as I found out, I asked if I could ride along and visit. It’s been raining a lot around here and so it was very muddy at the Nsoko center. There has been so much that has changed even in one week’s time, not to mention what all has been accomplished since June! I sat in on a meeting with Pastor Gift to get an update about all the new buildings and structures that have been started or completed, how the community is going and any other needs they may have. The clinic is almost complete and I was able to go inside for a quick tour. Things are looking good and I’m excited to continue watching as Nsoko becomes the community it has been envisioned to be.
This was taken in Nsoko when I was here in June.
This is the clinic taken a few weeks ago
Here is Nsoko as of yesterday. The clinic is on the left, a covered car park, the cooking shelter is in the process of being built, the tin roof is the future home of House of Prayer (the church), Pastor Gift’s home is in the far right corner, with the community center in the near right corner.
I took a bit of time to hang out with the kids and play for a bit. They are precious! So many little ones were running around playing on the new play ground while some of the older ones were playing a bit of net ball (similar to basketball but without the backboards). They all wanted me to “shoot” them and so I did. They are too cute not to!
The new playground!
After a while I rode out to a few of the care points where the gogos were awaiting our arrival. They have been making table runners to sell back in the States and they are gorgeous! This was only their second payday and they were all so very excited and thanking the Lord for providing for them. A few even gave a song and dance as we were leaving!
It was such a blessing to be able to visit Nsoko today and to see how the Lord has been moving. Each child and gogo I met today has a story, and my desire is to get to know them all. They are precious children of God and I want to be used however He wants me to be in order for them to begin tapping into the gifts and callings they have been given!
