I happened across a television show where the host was trying to find her true love. This is the second season after her first “true love” didn’t work out for her. Each episode the possible lovers competed in games to prove just how far they would go for a shot at love. When the host had finally made her decision about who she wanted to share her life with, she was only disappointed to hear that the love wasn’t mutual. “What am I doing wrong?” was the question from the host. Our culture has become consumed with instant gratification that we rely on internet match sites and game shows rather than finding love the old fashion way. And then we ask why it just didn’t work out the way we wanted and we continue believing the lies that the enemy feeds us about our inabilities, our shortcomings and how no one will love us because we have messed up too much to be loved. Isn’t the answer simple enough? God calls us to love Him first. Maybe when we realize that and choose Him as our first true love, then our life would be more balanced and better aligned. I have a long way to go!

Preach it, sister Isabel! No Cinderella story, but instead the TRUTH! And what a LOVE-ly truth it is. We ALL have a long way to go, but isn’t it wonderful to be on the road with Jesus?

I so totally agree! And to think, there is no man on earth who can grace us with a sunset of blazing yellows and oranges and reds. There is no man on earth who can give us a meadow full of flowers in bloom. There is no man who can put an endless sky full of twinkling diamonds above us. But there is ONE who CAN do all this…and He’s just waiting for us! *sigh*
