Ministry here at Jeffreys Bay has begun and I am excited for all that is to come. I’ve struggled a bit in finding where I fit in this conglomeration of leaders we have and still don’t think I’ve quite pinpointed THIS IS YOUR DUTY… Today I feel like I am beginning to have a purpose.
I am in charge of two ministry locations that I will be taking 4 students to weekly. One is the Algoa Frail Center and the other is a day care center in a township in the next town over. I will be driving the students to these ministries daily and watch them as they are stretched and challenged in helping children in what seems like helpless situations. The Algoa Frail Center cares for over 200 children ages 1 to sometimes 26 mostly with Cerebral Palsy. The center is understaffed and even though the children are fed and changed regularly, there is no time to play or love on the kids.
As I began thinking about this ministry I had to laugh a little with God. While I was a participant in New Zealand He had called me to work with a drop-in center for people with disabilities and I fought Him all the way. I did not want to go there…and now I find myself in a position once more to work with people with disabilities . This time however I am less feisty in trying to fight with God. Instead I am excited to be a part of this ministry and to see what the Lord has for the students that will be working there.
This week through next week half of the students will be helping out at a camp that UCSA is holding and won’t be involved in their ministries quite yet. These next two weeks are busy and a little crazy for us all so if you could pray for strength and energy it would be amazing. Also you could be praying for the leadership team as we continue serving the students and pouring ourselves out daily.
